Programme Objective
By end 2010; CSPR will
have achieved effective civic engagement in pro-poor development and
poverty eradication processes at local, national and international
levels.
What The
Programme Does
One of the hallmarks
of CSPR since its establishment has been its capacity to mobilize and
coordinate civil society’s involvement particularly in the PRSP process.
CSPR has scored a number of successes in this area and it is for this
reason that the network is constantly referred to as an international
best practice model.
One area of
significance is in the area of policy advocacy, while CSPR has managed
to develop and implement significant advocacy campaigns, this needs to
be strengthened so that greater impact can be achieved. The changes in
terms of the operating environment which includes the implementation of
new processes such as the National Development Plan, implementation of
the National Decentralisation Policy etc, will invariably require that
civil society is ready and able to engage at national, provincial and
even district levels.
